Welcome Back Message from Your Class Dean

Dear Sophomores,

As your Sophomore Class Dean, I would like to welcome new transfer sophomores and welcome back returning sophomores!  I hope that you all had a great summer break and are ready for the new academic year.  I enjoyed meeting many of you at the Block Party yesterday in the Barnard Hall lobby, and am looking forward to meeting many more of you throughout this coming year.

From time to time, I will be emailing you with important information of which you should be aware and about opportunities open to you, and sometimes only you as sophomores, directing you to additional information on the Sophomore Blog: So, make sure you read my emails and check out the Blog regularly.  Now that you are no longer new college students, I will not be emailing you with weekly reminders to check the blog, as you may have come to expect from First Year Class Dean Rebecca Grabiner last year.  So if you don't want to miss any new posts to the Sophomore Blog, you may want to enter your email address in the box under "Follow this Blog" on the right of the Sophomore Blog page.  This way, you will receive an automated message whenever there's a new post on the blog.  To make sure you don't miss any important College deadlines, you may also want to enter the dates from the Academic Calendar,
emic-calendar, into your academic year planner.  And while you're at, once you've finalized your courses for the semester, you may want to enter the dates of the exams/assignments for each of your classes.  Some extra time taken to organize yourself at the start of each semester will go a long way to helping you to manage your workload and to be successful.

I, along with all the deans in the Dean of Studies Office, use Google calendar for appointment scheduling.  To make an appointment with me or to find out my walk-in hours each week, you may go to my Google calendar from this link:, call the Dean of Studies Office at (212) 854-2024, or stop by the front desk of 105 Milbank Hall.  Please don't hesitate to come by to speak with me if you have any questions or concerns, or if I can be helpful to you in making your sophomore year the best that it can be.
